Support the Tillis-Coons Bill Protecting Mueller:
The pardon of Joe Arpaio–aside from being a moral travesty–also represents a looming Constitutional crisis. Trump worked around the normal review process and essentially forced through a pardon, setting the stage for a future scenario in which Trump could use the power of the pardon to protect himself and others from facing prosecution in the Russia investigation. It’s a trial balloon for violating checks and balances, and we need to push Congress to stand against it. One of the ways we can do that is to push Congress to pass the Tillis-Coons bill that would prevent Trump from firing special counsel Mueller.
Hi, I am a constituent calling from ________________ and I want to thank Senator Tillis for sponsoring the bill that would prevent Trump from firing a special prosecutor without judicial review. This is an important piece of legislation, and I want to encourage Tillis to keep supporting it. Trump’s pardon of Joe Arpaio sets a dangerous precedent, and I want to make sure that Trump does not abuse his power in order to interfere with the Russia investigation. Thank you for taking my call.

Hi, I am a constituent calling from ________________ and I want to encourage Sen./Rep. ____________________ to support the bill co-sponsored by Senators Tillis and Coons that would prevent Trump from firing a special prosecutor without judicial review.
Demand Congress Denounce the Arpaio Pardon
Even after Trump’s sickening response to Charlottesville, only a few GOP lawmakers had the courage to publicly criticize the president. With the pardon of the murderous Sheriff Joe, Trump has done it again. There is no way to parse or misconstrue this one: in the middle of an ongoing criminal case, Trump circumvented the normal review process and took a truly unprecedented action. Both the subject and the manner of this pardon are abhorrent and inexcusable. We are going to run this all week and keep a running list of what each North Carolina member of the House and Senate has to say. Click here to read the document.
I am a constituent calling to inquire about Sen./Rep. _____________’s position on Trump’s pardon of Joe Arpaio. (If given a response, note it, thank the staffer. If the response is evasive or unsatisfactory, proceed.) As a constituent, I urge the Rep./Sen to take a public stand against this shameful act. While it is within the president’s legal rights, the manner in which the pardon was executed has no modern precedent. Arpaio himself is a dangerous man who was convicted of unconstitutional acts while in a position of high authority. Continued silence by the Rep./Sen is nothing less than condoning the pardon. Thanks for taking my call.

Last Chance to Prevent Garbage Juice from Raining Down on North Carolina:
The governor vetoed this senseless bill that does nothing but save private landfill owners money, but potentially puts citizens’ health at risk. The House comes into session at 1 pm Monday, and this item is on the agenda. We are going to keep this one short and sweet, so we need as many people as possible to send messages. Or, read the attached background material and compose your own heartfelt missive. Either way, please do not let this terrible bill become law without at least registering your objection.
