We must stand with and fight for Minerva. She came here seeking safety and special education for her oldest son who is blind as a result of cancer. Now, she is the head of the household for her oldest son and two youngest, who are three and six, and is facing deportation at the end of this month.

No mother or child should have to go through this trauma. Minerva has no criminal record. She is simply a devoted, loving mother who, like many, wants the best for her kids. Her children cannot afford to lose their mother.

Let our Senators know that we expect them to stand with Minerva.

Hi, My name is ____ and I am calling about Minerva Garcia who is currently living in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I am calling because I want Senator____ to personally request that ICE stays Minverva's deportation and to continue granting her deferrals until the government creates a way for her to obtain legal status. Minerva is a loving mother of three who is part of the 11 Million who deserve a pathway to citizenship. She is an exemplary mother with no criminal record who makes our community a better place. Don’t let her blind 21 year old son and two young sons suffer any longer with the thought of losing their mother and caretaker. Thank you.

The Senate is submitting its version of Trumpcare (also known as AHCA) to the CBO this week without showing it to the public, Senate Democrats or even most Senate Republicans. Not even HHS Secretary Tom Price, whose department would implement it, has seen the bill. While very few know what is in the Senate bill, the bill the House passed would result in over 20 million additional uninsured, permit skyrocketing premiums for pre-existing conditions and allow lifetime and annual caps that would often make insurance useless when needed the most. It would also gut Medicaid with devastating impacts on children, the disabled and the poor.

Senate Republicans, eager to avoid the scrutiny of the House bill, plan to push Trumpcare through without any hearings or amendments, with only one day in which the Senate sees it before voting.

Tell them it's unacceptable!

Hi. My name is ____, from zip code _____. It's unacceptable to pass Trumpcare/AHCA without hearings. Healthcare is too important to pass in secret without adequate time to make sure the American people, including the poor, the disabled and people with pre-existing conditions will be protected. Will Senator _____ speak up for me and demand transparency and the appropriate time to make sure this bill is not the disaster it appears to be? Why won't Congress work together to shore up the ACA and protect the millions of people it has saved? Thank you.

Unsafe Drinking Water in Wilmington

Stories of big companies polluting North Carolina’s waterways make us think of coal ash spills, but this time it is Dupont and a compound used in making Teflon. A new report reveals that certain carcinogenic compounds that have been under-studied and under-regulated are now showing up in potentially dangerous levels in Wilmington’s drinking water, in close proximity to a Dupont plant. We think it is high time our lawmakers began protecting the health of North Carolina’s citizens more than it protects big polluters. We need to restrict dumping of these chemicals and invest in better water treatment plants.

I am a constituent calling from _________ to ask whether Rep./Sen. _______ was aware of the dangerous chemicals in Wilmington’s drinking water and to ask what the plan is for dealing with this issue. Thanks for recording my call.
