FEDERAL:

NATIONAL SENATE CALL-IN DAY - STOP TRUMPCARE

TODAY from open until close, we will call our U.S. Senators and tell them to reject TrumpCare and their closed-room deal to take health care away from 23 million people. Together, we will win.

Indivisible has provided sample scripts for today here:  https://www.indivisibleguide.com/resource/stop-trumpcare-senate-call-script/

Use as many as you can. Call as many times as you can. This is a national campaign, so the idea is to absolutely flood the phones, email, social media, & faxes (Resistbot). We can #KillTheBill

STATE:

HB576

The NC Senate Rules Committee will vote on HB 576, Allow Aerosolization of Leachate, which would allow landfill owners to spray liquid from these lined dumps into the air without a state permit. There is no science behind this technology and environmental scientists who have studied it say it’s a bad idea for people and the planet. Landfills often are situated near low-income communities, so there’s an environmental justice aspect to this, as well. The Senate Rules Committee meets at 4:30pm tomorrow in 1027/1128 Legislative Building, 16 W Jones St, Raleigh, if you can make it.

The House passed this terrible bill. Tomorrow is the last stop before a final Senate vote that would make it law.

ACTION:
Contact Senate Rules Comm Chair, Bill Rabon and your NC state senator if they're on this committee (http://bit.ly/2rml0rf) Tuesday morning to tell them you oppose this bill that scientists say is a bad idea. Would they want this stuff sprayed down the road from their house?
