STOP TRUMPCARE IN THE SENATE
The Senate is trying to do what the House of Representatives did in May: jam through its TrumpCare bill in secrecy, without public hearings, without a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score, and without knowing its full impact on American families.
TrumpCare bill (American Health Care Act, or AHCA) would strip coverage from at least 23 million people and cut Medicaid by $800 billion, in order to give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations. It would also undermine critical protections for people with pre-existing conditions, defund Planned Parenthood, and raise premiums for American families.
The next few weeks will be critical. Call or visit your two Senators and urge them to reject any bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Tell them to vote NO on TrumpCare. Try to incorporate a personal story if possible.
SCRIPT FOR SENATORS:
Hi. My name is _____, from zip code _____. I'm extremely concerned about the continued attempts to repeal the ACA. [I/my family member] [am/is] at risk of losing [my/his/her] insurance. [I/ my family member] [have/has] a pre-existing condition that before the ACA could be used by insurance companies to discriminate against me. My health depends on Senator ______ voting against the American Health Care Act. Thank you.

TELL HOUSE TO VOTE NO ON THE VERIFY FIRST ACT (H.R. 2581)
THE HOUSE IS SCHEDULED TO VOTE ON THIS TOMORROW!!
Don't let the name fool you. The Verify First Act is both an anti-Affordable Care Act (ACA) and an anti-immigrant bill. The bill would deprive ELIGIBLE immigrant families, including those with citizen kids, from accessing the ACA and seeing a doctor when they get sick. It also would hurt the ACA by keeping young, healthy, immigrants from participating in the marketplaces, something which helps keep premiums down for everyone.
HR 2581 is Anti-Immigrant. This is a dangerous bill that puts up roadblocks for both citizens and immigrants to obtain timely, affordable health insurance. It would strip away provisions that provide for a person to obtain subsidies for enrollment in an Affordable Care Act plan while they work with Department of Health and Human Services to verify their U.S. citizenship or immigration status. The people most impacted are U.S. citizens who were born abroad or naturalized. The bill also affects many immigrants, especially those newly arrived or certain victims of domestic violence and trafficking survivors.
HR 2581 is an ACA Sabotage Bill. One of the ways that Republicans continue to sabotage the ACA is by adding uncertainty to the system and by trying to de-stabilize the marketplaces. This bill would make it harder for young, healthy, and ELIGIBLE, immigrant families from participating in the marketplaces. This is an attempt to weaken the marketplaces and could lead to higher premiums for everyone.
SCRIPT FOR HOUSE:
Hi. My name is _____, from zip code _______. I'm calling to strongly urge Representative ________ to vote NO on The Verify First Act (H.R. 2581). This is a dangerous bill that puts up roadblocks for both citizens and immigrants to obtain timely, affordable health insurance. It also sabotages the ACA by adding uncertainty to the system and and will destabilize the marketplaces. I expect Representative _______ to vote no on this bill tomorrow. I will be watching closely. Thank you.

Fair Districts Now!
On Thursday, the Republican leadership in Raleigh rejected Governor Cooper’s call for a special legislative session to fix the glaring, embarrassing, disenfranchising practice of race–based gerrymandering. In numerous court decisions, the state has been told to remedy this blight by drawing new lines. Moore and Berger are thumbing their noses at the courts, at the rule of law, at the voters of North Carolina, and at decency itself. Various bills are already on the floor of the legislature, some with the support and sponsorship of Republicans. We are calling for nothing less than a total shutdown of law-making activities by the legislature. After all, the representatives there were put in office illegally, and as such, have no right to conduct the business of the people.
I am a constituent calling from _________ to urge Rep. / Sen. ___________ to immediately go into session, as called for by the fairly elected governor, to remedy the illegally drawn district lines that have been repeatedly rejected by courts. Until such time, the legislature, which was elected following illegal criteria, has no moral authority to pass any laws. Thanks for recording my call.
