TRUMPCARE PASSED THE HOUSE: NOW WHAT?
Let's let our Senators know we expect them to reject Trumpcare.
SCRIPT for Senators:
Hi, my name is ________ , I'm calling from zip code _________ to strongly urge Senator _________ to reject the health care measure passed by the House. There are so many cruel things in this bill, causing millions to lose coverage, hikes deductibles, ends federal protections for pre-existing conditions, cuts $880 billion from Medicaid, and these are just a few. All this while giving a $600 billion tax break for the wealthy and corporations. It is just amazing to me that the House even considered such a bill. I would like Senator ______ to publicly state his stance on this House bill and what he plans on doing to stop it. Please take down my contact information so that the Senator can get back to me. Thank you.

For our House members, they owe us an explanation!
SCRIPT FOR REPS:
Hi, my name is ________ , I'm calling from zip code _________ and I would like Representative ___________ to explain his/her vote on the health care bill, H.R. 1628. What exactly in the bill does Representative _______ think is best for his/her constituents? Why would he/she vote for a bill that takes health care away from so many people, while also ending federal protections for those with pre-existing conditions? Please take down my contact information so Representative _______ can get back to me with these answers and why he/she refuses to have a public town hall so we can get the information that we need and deserve. Thank you.

Duke Power Rate Hikes:
This is an incredible action to fight back against Duke Power’s rate hikes courtesy of Anne Smith Robotti:
Duke Energy has asked for a rate increase. They’ve cited a number of factors in the application – but the one you care about is coal ash cleanup.
There’s NO reason NC families should pay to rectify a mistake that Duke Energy was allowed to make by a corrupt administration.
Here’s what you have to do:
Call Duke Energy, and tell them you don’t want to pay for a rate hike because of coal ash cleanup. They’ll tell you that’s not why they’re asking for a rate hike. (866-582-6345)
Then call the NC Utilities Commission, and tell them that Duke Energy told you that they’re not asking for a rate hike to clean up coal ash, but you want to know what factors are contributing to their request. Ask for an Analyst to be assigned to you. (919-733-7328, option 1)
