WEDNESDAY 5/17/2017

The New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, and others have reported that former FBI Director James Comey wrote a memo in February detailing a private conversation with Donald Trump where Comey was asked to end the Michael Flynn investigation. This is the clearest indication yet that Donald Trump directly interfered with an ongoing criminal investigation. This is the definition of obstruction of justice. This also raises more questions regarding the motive behind Comey’s firing on May 9, 2017. The American public deserves answers.

We cannot wait any longer. The Dept. of Justice needs to appoint a special prosecutor to continue the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 elections, and any ties between Trump and the Russian government.
Congress has a responsibility and a duty to protect our democracy, including from presidential abuses. Call on your Senators to demand a special prosecutor, and to withhold consent until we get one. Business should not continue as usual when our democracy is under threat.

Washington Post story:

Hi. My name is ________ and I’m a constituent in zip code _________. I’m calling to ask [Rep/Sen____] to demand that the Assistant Deputy Attorney General appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the president, his ties to Russia and his alleged attempt to obstruct justice by asking the FBI to stop the investigation into Michael Flynn. Every day we learn more troubling information about the actions of this President. The American people have lost all faith in this administration, and it appears that they have a problem with the truth. This is extremely concerning to me and should be to Rep/Sen ___________. The time for politics is long over, it's now time to protect our country and citizens. Thank you.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein - 202-353-1555

I'm calling to strongly urge Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the president, his ties to Russia and his alleged attempt to influence the FBI to stop the investigation into Michael Flynn. Public trust in this administration is gone, and we are highly suspect in the ability of our government to do the right thing. If ever there was a need for a special prosecutor, the time is right now. I hope the Deputy Attorney General does what's in the best interest of our country and appoint a special prosecutor today. Thank you.

HB 909: A Bill that would ruin alternative energy in NC

This bill, which is strongly supported by Duke Energy, is complicated, but it would virtually eliminate competition to Duke from alternative energy companies. Why would our legislature consider this measure? Take a look at campaign donations from Duke and the Koch Brothers sponsored ALEC to General Assembly members, and it is easy to figure out the connection. Our state and our nation need to make it easier, not harder, for companies to invest in solar, wind, and other sustainable energy technologies that can reduce our dependence on polluting fossil fuels.

Hello, I am a constituent calling from _____________. I would like to urge Sen./Rep. ____________ to oppose HB 909, a bill that would make it almost impossible for renewable energy companies to invest in North Carolina. Please work to lower pollution and greenhouse gas emission. Thanks for recording my call.
