Russia and the Senate Intelligence Committee:

Congress has shown itself repeatedly to be unwilling or unable to properly investigate Trump and his team for improper Russian ties. New information details how chairman Richard Burr has been dragging his feet for months, and how the investigation is woefully understaffed, both in numbers and in expertise of its personnel. Once again, the need for an independent investigation is underscored. Let’s call, email, tweet, and use Resistbot to let Senator Burr know how we feel.

Hi. My name is ___________, I'm calling from zip code _________ to urge Senator Burr to immediately call for an independent investigation into Trump’s Russia ties. A special prosecutor or special Congressional committee is the only way to restore Americans’ trust in a bipartisan government. It becomes clearer every day that politics cannot be removed from this very important issue. Thanks for recording my call.

The Budget:
This week Congress must pass a stopgap funding bill, known as a “CR” (Continuing Resolution), to fund the government past April 28. But with his 100-day report card looming on that same day, Trump is desperate for any legislative win he can get—so much so that his cronies in Congress may be willing to risk a government shutdown by including unpopular policy riders in the funding bill, such as:
• Defunding of ACA cost-sharing subsidies (CSRs) that millions of Americans rely on to keep coverage affordable
• Defunding Planned Parenthood and other family planning initiatives
• Additional funding for Trump’s mass deportation force, including his border wall, detention facilities, and more ICE agents
• Restricting federal funding for cities that take up sanctuary policies
• Defunding the EPA and other climate protection programs

Hi. My name is ___, I'm calling from zip code ___. I am strongly urging Senator/Representative ___________ to pass a clean budget continuing resolution (CR) that does not include funding for Trump’s wall or any other policy riders that attempt to defund ACA cost-sharing subsidies, Planned Parenthood, the EPA and other climate protection processes. Any and all attempts to attach these unpopular and cruel riders risk a government shutdown, which is unacceptable. Thank you for passing on this important message, and please let Senator/Representative ________ that I am watching this closely and will be holding him/her responsible.

HB 249, a Bill Labeling Certain Protests “Terrorism:”

This bill, one of many popping in GOP controlled state houses across the country, does little more than vilify protesters. Nothing in the bill is not already illegal, such as blocking traffic. This bill increases fines and other repercussions by treating these acts as felonies. The final touch of hyperbole is that this bill creates a whole new class of terrorism, namely "economic." The GOP narrative from Trump on down has been that liberal protesters are paid and are violent, when nothing could be further from the truth. This bill moves into the House Judiciary II Committee tomorrow.

HB 249 full text:

I am a constituent calling from ________ to urge Rep. _________ to oppose HB 249. Protests are not a form of terrorism, even in the extremely rare instances where they block traffic. In fact, protests are an essential and patriotic act and have been from the Boston Tea Party to the March for Science on Saturday. Thanks for recording my call.
