SENATE BILL 446 (REQUIRES ALL STATES TO RECOGNIZE CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS FROM OTHER STATES).
Here’s an action from Everytown for Gun Safety: A new NRA bill would force all fifty states to let dangerous people carry guns, no matter their local laws. Call your Senators today and ask them to vote no. This is a companion bill to Richard Hudson’s (NC-8) bill, both of which honor concealed carry permits and permitless carry laws. This means a concealed carry license from one state would be valid in every state, and proof of residence from a permitless carry state would serve to allow law-abiding residents of that state to carry in every state. This is a bill that the NRA is drooling over, so we need to be concerned about it.

Script: Hi, my name is _______. I am calling from (City, Zip). I am an active voter. I'm calling to urge Senator ________ to vote NO on Senate bill 446. This bill would force all fifty states to recognize concealed carry permits from other states, and it would allow dangerous people to carry guns. It would enable stalkers, domestic abusers, and people with no safety training to carry hidden, loaded guns in public. I urge Senator ________ to oppose Senate Bill 446.

____________
US HOUSE: HR 861: BILL TO TERMINATE THE EPA
A bill before the house would immediately terminate the EPA. While it has a slim chance of passing, it is merely a slightly less extreme version of what Trump, through his appointment of Scott Pruitt to head that agency, has already done: signaled that dismantling environmental protections is at the top of his agenda. Let’s use this ridiculous bill as a rallying point, a way to send the message loud and clear back to Washington that we care about the environment, and that we think having a powerful government watchdog is a good idea in order to keep track of the extractors and polluters who would defile our air, water, and land for their profit.

Script: Hi, my name is _______. I am calling from (City, Zip). I am asking Rep. ___________ to oppose House Resolution 861, which would terminate the Environmental Protection Agency. Rep. ____________ should also oppose significant cuts to the EPA. Cutting funding to the EPA would do significant damage to our environment at a moment when we need to focus even more energy and resources to combatting climate change. I strongly urge Rep. _________ to oppose any cuts to the EPA.

STATE:
COOPER’S BUDGET PLAN
Cooper's budget, especially on teacher pay, is pretty good, so let's try to devote at least one day to support that. While the NCGOP has final say on what will eventually be enacted, it is important for us to make a strong case in the court of public opinion for public education in our state. Teachers have suffered enormously since the advent of the supermajority, to the detriment of our students.

Script: Hi, my name is _______. I am calling from (City, Zip). I am calling to urge Sen./Rep. _____________ to support Roy Cooper’s proposed state budget. The governor is attempting to bring teacher pay, which is currently 41st in the nation, up to national standards. It is critical that North Carolina invest in strong public schools.
