MONDAY 12/11/17

On Sept. 5, Trump announced that he was terminating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The Obama-era program provides relief from deportation for an estimated 800,000 young immigrants. These immigrants have gone to our schools, they live and work in our communities, they have families, and now they’re at an even greater risk of deportation.Congress must act immediately to protect Dreamers.

Senator Schumer has promised that if they do not pass a DACA bill by December 22nd when it expires, they will not pass the CR (budget) bill without DACA attached. We are contacting him to ask that he keep his promise and we are also contacting our local MoC to ask that they make acommitment to the Dreamers Act!!!

We need to contact Democratic Senate Leader Schumer and urge him to keep his promise to include this bill in the upcoming Budget Bill:

Script for Senator Schumer:

Hello, I am a Voter calling from ______________. I'm calling to strongly urge the Senate Minority Leader Schumer to encourage the Senate Democrats to vote no on any continuing resolution on government spending unless a clean DREAM Act is attached. The grass roots has told Senator Schumer that protecting DREAMers was our top priority for a bargaining point on the spending bill. He said he understood and made a commitment to fight for this important issue that affects so many families and particularly the young people directly impacted. We are extremely concerned about thisimportant issue and need to see your commitment now. No DREAM Act, no vote, please! Thank you for taking my opinion via fax/phone.
