Ban Bump Stocks

On Wednesday, some prominent Democrats in Congress introduced a bill that would outlaw bump stocks, the device used by the Las Vegas shooter that turns semi-automatic weapons into fully automated killing machines. There can be no purpose other than slaughter for a weapon that fires 800 rounds per minute. This bill is a bare-minimum change to laws that are woefully permissive. No law would have stopped the tragedy in Las Vegas, but the carnage could have been minimized if this law had been in place. Background:…/

I am a constituent calling from ________ to urge Rep./Sen. _________ to support a measure introduced by Senator Feinstein that would outlaw bump stocks that convert semi-automatic weapons to fully automatic. This device only serves to make an already powerful weapon many more times deadly, and has no justification for self-defense or hunting. In the wake of the Las Vegas tragedy, this bill seems like the least we can do. Thanks for taking my call.

There is yet another bill before Congress that would allow companies to destroy the Arctic Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Hello, I am a constituent calling from _____________________ to urge Sen./Rep. _________________ to oppose any provisions that would allow drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. Instead of pursuing fossil fuels in remote locations, we need to work on pursuing alternative forms of energy. The potential damage caused to ANWR by drilling would also be absolutely devastating to one of the last pristine natural resources and to the communities that surround it. The process of hiding controversial legislation in budget bills is also a danger to our democratic norms. Any votes on ANWR drilling should have to go through the normal legislative process. Please tell Sen./Rep. __________________ to block any budget that would potentially include funding for drilling in ANWR. Thank you.
