FRIDAY 10/13/17

ACA Subsidies:

In his latest attempt to sabotage the ACA, Trump has decided to end the subsidy payments to insurers selling Obamacare coverage.
This is an outrage and will certainly throw the markets into chaos, and put millions at risk of losing their insurance.
Congress must act NOW to appropriate the funding for this program. It is now in their hands to save our healthcare.

Hello, I'm a constituent calling from zip code _________ to express my outrage that President Trump has made the decision to end ACA subsidy payments to insurers. This will cause further turmoil in the markets and put millions of Americans at risk of losing their insurance. I expect Sen./Rep. _________ to immediately appropriate the funds for these subsidies. The ACA is the law of the land and it is the job of Sen./Rep. _________ to make sure this program is properly funded. Not doing so immediately, is simply a dereliction of duty. I will be following this issue very closely and expect my elected officials to do their job. Thank you.

Puerto Rico:

[Senate] The House passed a $36.5 billion aid package for Puerto Rico. It’s completely insufficient and it doesn’t address some of the immediate needs and horrible mismanagement by the Trump administration, and Trump’s tweets have indicated a profound indifference towards the Puerto Rican people. We need to push the Senate to support an even more robust aid package.

Hello, I am a constituent calling from __________________ to urge Sen. ________________ to support the Puerto Rican aid package passed by the House and to push for an even more robust aid package. Puerto Rico is in crisis, and Trump is threatening to pull out FEMA and other vital resources. Thank you for taking my call.

Stand Up for the DREAMers:

[Call House and Senate] This weekend, Trump issued a statement outlining massive changes to immigration policy that would accompany efforts to address the status of DACA recipients. These changes would include funding for a border wall (guess who’s paying for it?), increased border security, and a change in how immigration status is evaluated from one that prioritizes keeping families together to one based on “merit.” It would also put an end to sanctuary cities and would limit visa overstays in part by hiring 10,000 ICE officers and 300 federal prosecutors. These demands not only harm families but also harm the economy. We need to stand up for a “clean” DREAM Act, one that isn’t tied to funding a border wall and other draconian measures.

Hello, I am a constituent calling from _________________ and I would like to urge Sen./Rep. __________________ to support a clean version of the DREAM Act that would allow DACA recipients to stay in the country and to be granted a path to permanent residency. Please oppose any bill that would direct funding toward a border wall and any bill that would privilege merit over family when it comes to evaluating immigration status. Thank you for taking my call.
